The Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is for drivers of passenger carrying vehicles (PCV) and drivers of large goods vehicles (LGV/HGV) who drive professionally throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. It is a legal requirement that involves all professional drivers undertaking 35 hours of Periodic Training every five years. Qualification is by attendance, so there are no tests or exams to take at the end of the course.
All professional PCV, LGV and HGV drivers must attend CPC training towards holding a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) to drive professionally one of these vehicles for driving for a living.
The main aim behind the Driver CPC is to improve road safety, better-qualified drivers who are up to date current legislation and to help reduce road casualties. The Driver CPC should also result in improved productivity for employers as a result of more professional drivers.
This 35 hours training can be split into 7 hour sessions only 1 day training is required every year to accrue the total 35 hours training within next 5 years. We can customise 7 hour training sessions, which will satisfy the criteria, set out by the legislation.
Candidates/Delegates/Drivers must bring the photo card driver’s licence or current CPC (DQC) card or Digital Tachograph Card, as this is a legal requirement to enable us to upload the training record to the DVSA website. If your licence is not a photo card type/paper licence (old style), you must also need to bring your paper licence and current valid passport as proof of identity.
